Training With In-Work

The importance of Horticultural Therapy and valued activity to mental health is well documented and is well established in the UK across a variety of health and social care specialisms. Most of us can think of occasions when participation in gardening activity has improved and sustained our mental well being.

Inverclyde Association for Mental Health were early adopters of Horticultural Therapy and in 1993 established In-Work Ltd (In-Work Horticultural & Landscaping Services), a social enterprise providing training, voluntary and work-related opportunities in landscaping, ground maintenance and horticulture to people who have experienced mental health issues.

In- Work Ltd have been delivering landscaping, grounds maintenance, planting, fencing and community projects and have built a strong local reputation for our quality, health and safety and positive social outcomes.  We deliver projects to a range of public, private and 3rd sector clients in Inverclyde, Renfrewshire and Glasgow.

In-Work provide opportunities for participants to work towards gaining NVQ qualifications in Amenity Horticulture and Landscaping with our works delivered under the instruction of full-time experienced site supervisors in turn managed by our Project Manager based in Greenock.

We have assisted over 300 participants over the years, training new skills and assisting them overcome social and economic barriers and to live with their mental health issues.

We are a host organisation for the Future Jobs Fund, supported by Inverclyde Council, a scheme which aims to assist young individuals to get work experience placements with a view to finding real jobs.
